This research program has an interest in the area of Chemical Biology, to design, synthesize, and use life-like molecular systems to better understand, affect, and mimic biomolecular architectures found in the cellular environment. The final goals of this research program in the next ten years are hybrid cells and synthetic cells, which allow us to engineer specific cellular properties such as signalling platforms, cell sensors, diagnostic cells and artificial metabolic pathways.
