Professor Wilhelm Huck and coworkers (RU) recently published their work in Nature Communications. They present a method to control both the cell volume and shape of individual mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) within 3D microniches in a multitude of different geometries. These 3D microniches enable fundamental studies on the impact of biophysical cues on cell fate. Potential applications could be found in the investigation on how multicellular architectures organize in geometrically well-defined 3D spaces.
