We congratulate Dr. Daniela Wilson by being awarded with a Vidi grant by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). This grant, part of the Innovational Research Incentives Scheme, allows researchers who have gained several years of research experience after their PhD to develop their own innovative lines of research, and to appoint one or more researchers. The grant comprises a maximum of 800,000 euro.
Daniela Wilsons’ research theme: “Launching nanomotors for disease detection and treatment”
Synthetic molecular machines are self-propelling structures that require extensive work. But why not let the “motor” build itself? Using simple building blocks the researchers will program them to “assemble” into nanomotors while tailoring their structure, shape, and movement for disease detection, delivery of medicines and stimuli manipulation.
